How to Recognise Online Scams

Scam websites are prevalent and you must be able to tell the good from the bad. Online scams are all over the internet and if you don’t know how to recognise them then you can be taken advantage of by unscrupulous people. Firstly, you have to avoid clicking on any website that is asking for personal details. You should never provide such details to any website or advertiser on the internet that is not trusted and verified – it’s just asking for trouble and could land you in a lot of hot water, so never under any circumstances provide your card details.

The next thing you need to do is be wary of any site that asks you to pay a subscription fee or any one else that asks for a sum of money before you can start a job, for example. Most legitimate online companies do not require you to pay a subscription fee or anything like that. If you are asked for some sum of money upfront and you feel that the site is asking for some type of investment from you then most likely it is a scam. Never give any money up front to anyone that asks for your credit card number as this is an obvious sign of a scam. For investigative help, consider a Private Detective from ISG Investigations

One of the most important things is to never reply to emails that ask for money. You may think that the email was sent from a legitimate company but if you do not check who sent the email then you are vulnerable to being scammed. You should instead ignore the emails and keep vigilant for online scams.
